Another house update
I haven't written in awhile but here goes. We have been working diligently over the last two months (since the last update) to continue working on the house.
We have painted the living room, dining room, office, downstairs hallway, guest bathroom, master bedroom, 2 closets, Gabre's room and master bathroom. Thanks to Troy who did lots of sanding and pre-paint work. We still have the Kitchen, Stairwell, and Guest room left for painting.
We have replaced the floor in the Master Bath with 12 inch vinyl tile, thanks Tony (my father-in-law) who did the majority of work with my dad and I assisting. Additionally we layed laminated wood flooring (like Pergo) Thanks to my dad and brother who got that completed the week before Christmas.
Since then I have been working on the Sunroom/Screened room. I pressure washed, then oxi-cleaned, then acid etched the floor. Finally I stained the floor with a waterborned penetrating stain with a slight toner color.
What I have left on this room includes:
I still need to stain the inside of the siding which is Cedar like I believe the floor is. I also plan to Paint the underside of the roof a light grey. I also plan to take heavy weight vinyl sheets and velcro them to the outside of the building. This will prevent windborne rain from entering the building and will stop the breeze during the winter. This should be the next project as I already have the material to do it. I will then replace the floor boards outside of the room as they are beginning to rot.
After the room is moved to it's new location (sometime after we decide on house plans and locations) we will pour a concrete footing for the room and I'll build a larger deck around the outside of the room.
For the house and property I have hundreds of projects left. We need to continue working on the outside which my dad has been focusing on. Which includes fixing the ag building and converting it to a shop. Pruning fruit trees, Checking and rebuilding some of the fences especially near the house to make them more appealing than the current Ag fences. Planting in the field, Fighting back blackberries, tilling the garden and planting. Rebuilding or fixing the barn, Painting the chicken coop and building laying boxes, Etc...
The current house we live in needs work on the electrical to bring it up to code if possible and to fix some areas such as siding needing work, and plumbing that needs to be assessed further. Hopefully we will get to begin building and I can let all these projects go and focus on building a new house.
