Riverside Homes Review and Paulsons Floor Covering Review

Background:

I bought a new house from Riverside Homes of Oregon in Cornelius, Oregon on September 11 of 2009. Normally Riverside "presells" a house and the purchaser has the ability to make decisions and purchase upgrades to the house. I bought in a neighborhood that was past this stage and they were selling a few houses at a discount that were already built. In my case the house was under contract but the original purchaser failed to close the deal. My house came with some upgrades that were requested by the original purchaser (woodwork around stairs, prewired for surround etc...) I mention the background of my purchase because I don't have some of the experience others would with this builder (I didn't negotiate upgrades or deal with the building schedule, the house I bought was done with no input from me.)

I have now lived in the house for nearly 5 months. Generally I'm neutral to slightly down on my rating on the house if you exclude the issue below and the house was built to mid grade production quality (Vinyl Floors, Tile counters, Carpet, etc...) with some upgrades (granite tile kitchen countertop, ceramic tile bathroom countertops, hardwood floors in kitchen, etc...) some of which were standard for Riverside to include. There are multiple issue that point to substandard installation practices. A door is hung incorrectly and doesn't latch in the Master Bedroom. This was noted in the prepurchase walkthrough with Riverside but never resolved. I haven't fought this one yet, as I'm trying to get the hardwood fixed. The subfloor squeaks in muliple spots underneath the carpet and vinyl as was noted in the prepurchase walkthrough and they promised to resolve but never did. My laundry room fan failed within the first couple weeks.
