Pole Barn Doors

We marked all of the boards as we went so we could put the pieces back correctly after we stained them. We used a water-based solid color stain for the trim. It took awhile.

And finally we used Elmer's Exterior stain-able wood glue and used finishing nails (1 and 5/8 inch) to nail them to the plywood sheets. Lastly we attached the bracket that is made to connect to the trolley. You can see my dad working on attaching a bracket.

I will have to still upload more pictures as we also built stops inside the building to make it very difficult to tilt the door so someone could slide under.

We plan to also update the locks to work more like a garage door where pulling a handle on the outside will move a rod to lock the 2- two panel doors together and also will slide a rod into a pipe in the ground and one up behind the header. Making it impossible to tilt the door at all. I also will add trim (ripped plywood with the dark stain) to cover the the posts on the front so you won't be able to tell we added on side supports for the header when you look from the outside.
